@thedancindentist: @dyson went all out with there new toothbrush but my biggest takeaway from the oral-hygiene literature is that proper technique to effectively remove plaque & consistency matter more than how expensive your toothbrush is. Powered toothbrushes have evidence behind them for reducing plaque and gingivitis compared with manual brushing. (Cochrane Library) And this new Dyson combines brushing with a camera-guided liquid jet designed to target the spaces between your teeth. One thing I do think is interesting: seeing the areas you’re missing may help with compliance and technique. If a device can show you exactly where plaque, food, or missed areas are, that feedback could potentially make oral hygiene feel more tangible and help reinforce better habits. So I think it’s a promising concept, but not something we can call an evidence-based benefit yet. But here’s what to remember: 🪥 You don’t need an expensive toothbrush to have healthy gums. 🦷 You DO need to remove plaque consistently. Twice a day at least. 🧵 You still need an effective way to clean between your teeth. Water flossing is a great supplement to your oral hygiene routine but it doesn’t replace traditional flossing. ⚒️ What you’re using isn’t as important as how you’re using it. Prioritize proper technique. 🩸 Persistent bleeding gums isn’t something to ignore. 💰 Spending more doesn’t automatically mean better oral health. The best oral-hygiene aids are the ones you’ll actually use. #thedancindentist #dance #periodontist #dyson 1. Yaacob M, Worthington HV, Deacon SA, et al.
