@politicojoe_: Republicans keep making videos about things they don’t understand. Today’s topic: Socialism. @heatherannoverstreet #republicans #maga #economy #socialism #capitalism
the only reason universal healthcare isn't happening in America is because the billionaires would lose too much of their income if it was available.

I want my tax dollars to go towards things that I personally will never use, such as child care or public k-12 education. Is that crazy?

Justca little FYI Heather, I paid $35,000 dollars in taxes last year- that's how much the government kept. I also paid $12,359 for my shitty health insurance, and I've paid $90,000 for my 3 college degrees. It's absolutely ridiculous that I paid $45,000 in taxes but the school 2 towns over from me in a pretty rural area has to discontinue School Bus service. Starting next school year 1200 kids don't have a way to get to SCHOOL. I want my money to back to the people not to greedy billionaires trying to destroy all of humanity.

She’s confusing “acting entitled” with “entitlement programs.” One describes an attitude; the other means benefits people qualify for under law. Parents paying for college or buying their kid a car isn’t socialism. That’s equivocation: confusing different meanings of a word and treating it as a political argument.

Her examples is capitalism at work. I have been very healthy all my life. The only time I MAY have cost my insurance company money is with the birth of my three children. The last 15 years after my divorce, my insurance has cost about $7000 each year. I go to the doctor about three times a year. I pay about $500 total for the three visits, my insurance pays about the same. So… $6500 profit for just me. I would rather pay this into a pit for others to use, and so, in the event I need care, it will be available for me.

so she thinks that we're all jealous 16 year olds that want the "daddy government" to pay for our lives? I just want the money I'm already contributing to actually pay for things I need. 😩

Those free colleges, universal health care, child care etc, are not actually free, as they claim. They're paid for, by taxes

I haven’t read the Yale study yet but it sounds like it should be the only thing needed to convince Republicans that it’s the best option. Well, the actual fiscally conservative Republicans, not MAGA. Saving a combined $1 trillion dollars a year should make them tingle down there.

Student loans should be from the government and have very small interest with a cap of how much interest can be charged, like no more than 20% of the loan. So if I take out a $60,000 student loan I pay back no more than $72,000. That’s not a free handout, that’s preventing predatory loans by having the government provide the loans. Interest would be based off income. Housing should be the same.

I’m tired :
Healthcare or ballroom….childcare or an arch…..free school lunches or a remolded reflecting pool….. housing for the unhoused or a “military operation” nobody asked for…….feeding the hungry or remolding an airplane that is not needed…..

they purposefully conflate the word "entitlement". there are 2 definitions. entitled can mean have a legal right to something, like Medicare, and SS, hopefully universal healthcare 🤞. entitled can also mean a belief that a person deserves "special" privileges.
when I say humans are entitled to socialism, I mean the first (codify it, and make it available to ALL [even if i don't personally benefit]), when they say it, they mean the 2nd one, because they didn't get benefit from it (free college, etc.), but others will.

thats not a "fundamental misunderstanding". that is INTENTIONAL PROPAGANDA INSTALLED TO ANGER YOU SO MUCH THAT WONT EDUCATE YOURSELF ABOUT IT....
.....as we ironically -- and fittingly -- discuss the barriers of education as part of a system of regulated ignorance designed by those who benefit from an uneducated populace.
.
because an uneducated populace doesn't evolve into a motivated proletariat

We literally double dip for medical we pay the government for medical services via taxes and they give they money to a bunch of programs and some to insurance companies then the insurance companies ask us to pay more. When I was a 20 year old with my first kids health insurance was like 120 for me and my kids now in my late 30s it’s 424.

The bigger argument that often gets overlooked when it comes to universal social services like education and healthcare is that they strengthen the social fabric. That can lead to greater public safety, lower crime rates, less poverty, and ultimately a stronger, more cohesive society.

It is 100% entitlement. We are absolutely entitled to feel that our government should take care of it citizens. I’m not sure why that is controversial.
