You care. He knew it. Kids can tell who’s authentic and who is not. I’m really glad your school team thought to reach out to you and recognize your talent and validate his thoughts too. I hope he continues to feel supported by more teachers this year. I hope you always know what you do matters. It’s the most challenging job, but it’s also so rewarding. We need teachers like you who see kids for who they are and connect.

Being a safe teacher is SO important. My SIL is a teacher in highschool and hearing the stories of how she is there for some of these kids is so meaningful. She always tells them she tries to create a space where everyone can laugh with one another rather than being in the real world and being scared to mess up ( she’s a French teacher )

My daughter, who just graduated, was not a star student. With that being said, her freshman year she got a 98 as a final grade in physics. I asked her what made the difference for her, and her response was that that specific teacher never talked down to her. Don't get me wrong, same teacher did give her detention for being late, but my daughter respected those boundaries and continued to thrive in class. The teacher can absolutely change a student outcome.

Teacher relationships definitely are important in high school. My child was approached by the assistant principal because she fell asleep in class(not ok to do so), my child did not react well to that interaction and when I ask her why she told me, when I had a problem I went to him and he did not care. so glad you can be a support system for a student that obviously needs it.💙💙💙

administrative is going to have to realize that students pick and choose what work they want to do, which teachers they like, etc. it's not the other teachers' responsibility to "learn your ways" and adjust THEIR personalities to suit the student. you are HILARIOUS and I love watching you. I teach 8th grade science, and you and I have similar personalities. that nonchalant humor. these kids can be turds, though. 😂

Girl let me hold you by the collar (non aggressively obviously) when I tell you you are my ideal teacher as well as half my friend groups and both my brothers. You seem to actually want to help us and care abt us when something happens you quite literally make me want to go back to school and I’ve not wanted to do that since I was 12

Oh, babe! I absolutely love this and your honesty. I've been teaching middle school and high school for 23 years and there are some days that I think about quitting. For real. And then I get a message or a hug that reminds me why we do what we do. I absolutely love your videos and think that you are an incredibly amazing educator. Hang in there. Your students need you. ❤️
