@mscellophane92: I’m a GenX daughter helping my Boomer dad rid himself of years and years of stuff. There are many ways to tackle these situations and all of us are doing it the best way we can. For me I believe the best way is communication. First of all I listened. I listened to him tell me why his things aré important to him. I validated him and encouraged him. Then I shared stories of others inheriting boxes and boxes of belongings their parents had left them with all while they were dealing with loss. This was his turn to listen and he did. It’s a slow process but we are doing this together.
