"films like Rambo" Except the first Rambo film, "First Blood", depicted in that footage isn't "militarist brainwashing". John Rambo is treated as disposable by his country, everyone in his unit is dead, and he's being harassed by the police because of how expendable he truly is. It's when he's imposed upon that he breaks. The other Rambo movies are militarist brainwashing, but I really don't consider First Blood to be.

america won the Cold war from two things 1. the ability to outspend militarily and choke the Soviet economy 2. creating and pushing propaganda so skillfully that, when an average American is confronted about propaganda consumption, 9 times out of 10 they would say "What propaganda"

I really love comparing American propaganda about other nations to propaganda about the US from other countries and as someone born and raised in the US with only recent exposure to that kind of material; it blows my mind how accurately they describe us. Americans believed that the Soviets were starving, living in stale bread and vodka. Meanwhile a declassified CIA report than Soviet citizens were actually eating better than we were at those times, with average daily caloric intake almost 1,000 calories larger under Stalin (of all people) than what Americans were consuming through that same period. Meanwhile they were telling their people that we were reciveing military indoctrination from childhood and rampant defense spending was driving down unrelated sectors of the economy. That we were racist and our racists were getting bolder while making the effort to appear as though they weren't racist at all. Guess which country has the more accurate picture? Guess which country has a media that's driven by profit and so is incentivized towards sensationalism and lies that confirm existing beliefs?
