@coachmontessori: Welcome to a new series: Montessori in Real Life. 🤍 Most of my videos show you what I would say or do in a specific situation. But real life with children is rarely one perfect sentence followed by immediate cooperation. So I thought it might be helpful to start showing you more of what this actually looks like in practice: the resistance, the follow-through, the progress, and all the little steps in between. I first met this little boy when he was 17 months old, when I started working with his family and training his mom. He’s two now. What you see in this video didn’t happen because I found the perfect words to make him cooperate. It’s the result of months of building routines, introducing expectations gradually, holding boundaries consistently, and adapting what I expect as his skills develop. And I think that context is important. Montessori isn’t about expecting perfection from children. It’s about knowing where they are, deciding what they’re ready to work on next, and consistently helping them get there. This series will be a little different from my usual content. I want to share more of the real situations I experience while working with children and explain what I’m thinking and why I respond the way I do. I think it is a bit sad that you felt you had to give in to the people who told you that you had to do your makeup while you are delivering your message to "add interest". Your message is enough, and your delivery has always been absolutely terrific.
