@mackenzies_eb_journey: I absolutely adore the age when babies start talking 🥰 Language acquisition is so fun to listen to and/or watch, and also so important for any child. Whether it’s sign language, verbal language, or learning to use an AAC, watching a child learn to communicate with the world is amazing. For Mackenzie it’s unbelievably sweet, and also hugely important as a way that she can advocate for herself and tell me when something is wrong. She’s learning words my other girls never had to, but I’m so grateful that she’s learning to explain to me when something is wrong. Mackenzie is now starting to tell me when something is hurting, and she’s learning to point to exactly where it is. She’s learning the words for blisters and needles, and we’re trying to normalize her experience with all things EB and g-tubes. This doesn’t mean it’s always heartwarming- she’s also learning to yell “mama no!” during dressing changes, or while I’m trying to lance a blister. But as much as that kills me to hear, I’m so glad she’s learning to advocate for herself. The next step, hopefully, is understanding why I have to keep going 🤞🏼 I love listening to Mackenzie’s sweet voice, and I’m cherishing this stage of babyhood. #baby #babytalking #LanguageLearning #momlife #fyp

Question about EB: is her skin physically sensitive? if you held her wrong could you cause a tear? or is it more like a sensitivity to sunlight, liquids, creams etc?
