@drgreghealth: Here are the three most effective, readily available tools I've seen for Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I've been a functional medicine doctor for more than 25 years, and here's the truth. Your immune system isn't broken, it's responding to something. Handing you a hormone pill for a thyroid your immune system already damaged, and calling that treatment, is a band-aid on a house fire. Hashimoto's is not a thyroid condition. It's an immune system condition with a thyroid casualty. If nobody's ever asked why your immune system decided your thyroid was the enemy, that's the real problem. Number one: Selenium. It doesn't get talked about in a standard endocrinology visit, it's not patentable, and nobody's profiting off of it. But it calms the specific antibodies attacking your thyroid tissue. Cheap, over-the-counter, ignored. Number two: Pair it with myo-inositol. In a six-month trial, women who added this over-the-counter combination didn't just manage their numbers. Their antibody attack dropped enough that their thyroid function actually returned to normal. Nobody hands out a drug that does that, because a thyroid that heals doesn't need a refill. Number three: Pull gluten. I know you've heard this before. Your immune system can genuinely mistake thyroid tissue for gluten protein. It's called molecular mimicry. Taking gluten off the table takes that trigger off the table. Conventional medicine still tells patients it's not real unless they have a positive celiac disease test. The research disagrees, and so does every patient I've watched improve after doing it. Hashimoto's was never a hormone problem. It's an immune system under attack, being managed instead of questioned. Stop asking what your TSH is and start asking why your body turned on itself. That question is where healing actually starts. Find the root. Heal the whole.

I went gluten free and, while I lost a lot of weight, it didn’t really do anything else for me. I found a study (2022, by M Szczuko) that said eating gluten free only benefits those with Celiac and are intolerant. Now, it’s common for those with Hashimoto’s to also be Celiac or intolerant, but it’s not everyone. I started eating gluten again and there haven’t been any changes either.

When I went gluten free my antibodies got higher and I felt like dog doo. Then I found out, not everyone who has this needs to go gluten free.

I have done the first two and they did not help. I took NAC and that is the only thing that plummeted my antibodies. I was at 400 and now I'm at 14. working on my liver has helped the most

I was literally told not to worry about gluten, that there was no way it could be affecting me because my celiac test was negative.

Ok, what if I mill my own flour? Isn’t it the way the US processes wheat that causes all of the gluten problems?

Genetics? My 13 year-old daughter going through puberty TPO antibodies of 322 but her thyroid is still intact. Ultrasound was clear no damage or nodules. TSH is 4.2 but the doctor refuses to test her free T4. Her dad has graves disease and late diagnosed at 38yrs old with type one diabetes . could her genetics have caused this? or is their hope? As her mom I’m desperately trying to save her future NOW instead of listening to doctors who are going to make her more sick.. she is not on thyroid medication because her levels are still holding out. could puberty trigger these TPO? Dr. said that I need to stop “looking at the crap on the Internet “ and all I can think is the internet doc are the only ones helping me! Dr. said that removing gluten isn’t necessary and is a myth . I don’t believe her

No doctor has told me another but I noticed my T3 is 2! Terribly low, started eating 2 Brazil nuts daily, 2 drops of iodine, started the myoinositol and I’ve known that my body doesn’t like gluten but I will be more careful. I’m hoping to see improvement in my energy level
