@chasingcamilla: SAVE this post if you’re traveling to Oaxaca My biggest tip: hire a local guide, even if it’s just for ONE day. And do a little research before you go. Oaxaca has SO much to experience, and having someone local show you around makes such a difference. Here are some of my favorite places + amazing people I’ve personally worked with: 🏡 STAY @airbnb @casitareforma @hotellosfrailes When searching, look around Oaxaca de Juárez. I recommend staying within walking distance of Santo Domingo, or Jalatlaco is another beautiful area. ☕️ CAFÉ @cafebrujula — one of my favorites, but honestly Oaxaca has SO many good coffee spots. FOOD Doña Vale’s memelas — she was featured on Netflix and I definitely recommend watching her story before you go. @shigunduoax — one of my new favorites. Amazing food AND service. 🛍️ MERCADOS Mercado 20 de Noviembre Tianguis de Tlacolula(Recommended going on a Sunday) Artisans from different areas fill the streets. . @bouleroaxaca @artesanias_hilda 🚐 LOCAL GUIDES @denistours @mario.come.oaxaca There are so many other amazing guides I haven’t personally worked with, so do your research and find someone who fits what you want to experience. For archaeological sites, pueblos and artesanías, hiring someone local is KEY. There’s just too much history and culture to experience without knowing what you’re looking at. Add these to your list: ✅Monte Albán ✅Hierve el Agua ✅Mitla ✅San José del Pacífico ✅Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzmán ✅Capulálpam de Méndez for a limpia + a completely different experience We’ve been coming to Oaxaca for YEARS and I still feel like we haven’t even scratched the surface. Hire local. Ask questions. Do a little research — even if that means going down a TikTok rabbit hole before your trip 😂 — and give yourself time to really experience Oaxaca. Hope this helps!
