my greatest mentor is a mohawk residential school attendee who was adopted by a Christian family; in our discussions on his time and experience. he was taken there for going to school with no shoes. no lunch and not being fed any dinner. he was taken there because his parents were beating him and his brothers. they cut their hair because of lice not to break their spirits and for the 5 years that he was there. he was never abused. his brothers were never abused. they were reprimanded like all kids at the time who spoke against the teacher with a stick

No bodies may have been found…but that in no way says that children weren’t harmed, even murdered. My guess is any child that was killed accidentally or intentionally, they incinerated the body(s). My mother went to a residential school and she shared stories of her friends going to see the priest or the nun and never coming back. She also shared stories children being pregnant and having the baby but they never seen the baby after being born.

Mario, you’re minimizing the experience of so many people. At the health care facility I work at in Vancouver I’ve listened to hours and hours of testimony, and the aftermath of how those events continue to impact the First Nations people today. I encourage you to do the same.
