So question here, if someone was hunting a clean animal and they say a prayer before hitting the animal with the projectile, thank their god for giving them thanks and gratitude for securing the hunt, they thank their god as they dress the animal out and thank the animal for giving its life to sustain the life of the hunter and his family, and the meat was properly cleaned and butchered would that constitute as halal or kosher meat? I come from a family of hunters and Ive always wondered about that

Just be careful with some cuisines! I work in a Japanese restaurant and mirin is used in a lot of stuff. I wouldn’t consider it to be alcohol but with the way it’s made it could be considered alcohol

Is it rude to assume if a coworker wears a hijab that they eat halal. I dont know how interchangeable the 2 are. I had a friend in college who wasent very religious but always ate halal.

I've been a veggie most of my life, there's actually quite a lot of good veggie options in the UK these days at least. More of a struggle on other countries.

Can you please explain why fish is halal? Is it viewed differently to mammals in Islam? Just trying to understand. Growing up my best friend at school was Muslim and our halal options were very limited so she usally ate vegetarian, she never had the fish but I can’t eat sea food so I don’t know if that was because of me. We had a vegetarian pasta station and we usually just went there for lunch.

I’m just curious what the difference actually is between halal and non halal meat? Why do you think chicken prayed over and killed by knife is allowed but the same type of chicken on the shelf beside it is not? Pork being haram makes sense but I’ve never understood what the issue is with non halal beef/chicken etc

I would add that you need to make sure that the cooking oils and pans etc are not contaminated with pig fat/grease

are you able to explain to this ignoramus 🫣 why is fish automatically halal safe? (I've never eaten any flesh but more for a texture reason rather than moral or religious reasons) but I also studied marine biology so am fascinated by the reasons why meat eaters claim fish either 'isnt' meat or is automatically ok for religious eating 🙏🏼💓 xx

Yup, my family is strict about sticking to vegetarian meals and seafood. But I do know not everyone is. After 2 weeks in Japan, I was pretty fed up of fish and shrimp tempuras as they had very little vegetarian and Halal options. Europe, though, can be so much easier since you can always find a Turkish or Arab kabab place for variety.

I work with a slaughterhouse (in the US) who does special halal, kosher, and even Buddhist production runs. I guarantee you (in the US) they are not giving Christian blessings to the chickens on standard production runs 😭
