⚠️ WARNING: This reel includes one photo of my stump without bandages. It’s still swollen (which is completely expected!), but I’m really happy with how it’s looking so far. Here’s a little recap of my first few days in hospital. My pain has been minimal, and although I’ve had plenty of pins and needles, cramping and some weird phantom sensations, it’s all been completely manageable. Compared to my original accident and the surgeries that followed, this has genuinely felt like a breeze. I’ve actually enjoyed having a rare opportunity to slow down and rest for a few days! I’ve now been signed off by both the surgeon and the physio to go home. I’m just waiting for the occupational therapy team to make sure the equipment is in place at home, and if all goes to plan, I’ll be heading home tomorrow! 🏡 I’m so excited to get home and start the next chapter: rehabilitation. As eager as I am to get going, I know I need to be sensible. Right now, the priority is letting my incision heal properly and giving my nerves the time they need to settle before I start pushing myself. It’s definitely going to be hard to make sure I don’t over do it. I had Targeted Muscle Reinnervation (TMR) during my surgery, which is something a lot of people have been asking about. I’ll do a separate post explaining what it is, why I had it, and hopefully answer some of your questions. Thank you so much for all the messages, comments and support over the last few days. It honestly means so much. ❤️ Here’s to the next stage of the journey! 🦿✨ #amputationjourney #newbeginnings #ankleinjury #limbloss #newbeginnings
