One thing people need to understand is that their personal experiences with marriage should never be used as the yardstick for everyone else’s marriage. Just because something works in your marriage does not mean it will work in mine. Just because you tolerate certain things does not mean everyone else should tolerate them. And just because you were raised to believe that a husband or wife must behave in a particular way does not make that the universal standard for every marriage. So please, stop using your marriage as a measuring stick for everyone else’s. Your experience is valid, but it is not universal.
