You can finish a coding bootcamp, build 2-3 portfolio projects, create a beautiful portfolio website and still struggle to land your first tech job. Why? Because companies aren't only hiring people who can write code. They’re looking for people who can create value. Your technical skills might get you through the door. But what you can do beyond the code is what can set you apart. When you build a real product with real users, especially paying users, you learn things a tutorial can't teach you: → Turning an idea into a product → Understanding users and their problems → Designing and building the solution → Shipping to production → Getting your first users → Iterating based on feedback → Thinking about revenue and business → Working with other people → Taking ownership when things break And if you've started a startup, you begin to understand the business side of technology. So when you eventually join a company, you're not just thinking: "What code do I need to write?" You're also thinking: "What problem are we solving?" "How does this affect the customer?" "How does this make the business better?" "What can I do to move this product forward?" That's a different kind of engineer. At Maktaba, this is exactly the direction we're taking with our programs. We don't want students to graduate with eight projects that only exist to fill a portfolio. We want them to build, ship, get users, solve real problems and understand the entire product journey. Because the goal isn't simply to teach you how to code. The goal is to help you become someone a company would be excited to hire.
