Contessa Brundridge :
The only thing better than having my mom as my best friend now as an adult is now watching her be Nana to my daughter. She lets her have too much ice cream, she buys way too many toys, Nana says yes when I say no. I love watching them together & especially love our trips now just the 3 of us. Sweetest part of life.

The quiet phase can feel like the best stretch you’ve had in a year. Fewer hard talks. Fewer sighs across the dinner table. Nobody asking where the two of you are headed. And a lot of the people I sit with tell me that stretch was when they thought things had finally settled. Possibly the opposite was happening. The partner who spent years bringing things up may have run out of road. They tried the direct version and the gentle version. They forwarded the article. They found the counselor and made the call. And somewhere in there, they stopped expecting anything back. That silence is often misread. From the outside it can look like acceptance, maybe even contentment. Inside, it’s often someone protecting themselves from one more closed door. The love may still be there. What tends to go missing is the belief that saying it out loud will change anything. If you’re the partner who’s been on the receiving end of all that reaching, this is possibly the most useful thing to know: the bringing up was the good sign. Awkward timing, clumsy wording, a sigh at the wrong moment, all of it was somebody still betting on the two of you. Showing up while they’re still knocking matters more than saying the right thing. And if you’re the one who’s been doing the reaching, the tiredness makes sense. Years of one-sided effort wear anyone down. What usually helps is a different move than the one you’ve been making, and that part is learnable. The 30 Day Relationship Reset starts soon. It walks through this exact cycle, how to see it, calm it, and shift it, on your own or together. The link is in my bio. #burnedoutpursuer #emotionallycheckedout #marriageadvice #relationshipcommunication #couplesconflict This is relationship education, not therapy, and nothing here creates a therapist-client relationship. I read what I can, but I can’t reply to everyone and may not see your message. If you’re struggling, please reach out to a licensed mental health professional in your area.
