@kraft4elcajon: Throughout our campaign, our team has been talking with El Cajon residents and business owners about what they want for Parkway Plaza. Once we’re elected, we’re ready to deliver on a vision they deserve.
They literally just moved Marshall’s there and are planning to open shake shack, raising canes, chick fil a, ect to help increase flow.

Apartments there would be absolutely miserable. It’s already enough traffic getting on and of the 8 right night to it. I don’t like this idea at all.

Where’s my money ? :
What if everything in San Diego is too damn expensive so everyone just stays home ? News flash no one gives a fuck about community life if they can’t feed their kids. Hell can’t even afford to work

That mall definitely deserves a second chance. Every time I go there, there’s always so many people there & it makes me sad that there isn’t enough entertainment for them like there used to be!! I really hope it does not turn into more housing, the people of El Cajon deserve a fun enjoyable place where we can be a community. Not speaking logistics but for me personally I think we need a return of popular shopping stores, a better food court, more restaurant options outside the mall like Chili’s, fun stuff for kids/teens like Round1.

Show me one safe trolly stop in San Diego?
Read this TT again as if you lived there. Trolly stop, shopping, restaurants, event area, people day and night.
How is the city going to aquire the property? How are they going to afford the construction at PWage rates?

I’m all for revitalizing El Cajon but I’m skeptical about the location of Parkway Plaza working for a new neighborhood. But I’m all about being proven wrong with a solid plan!

I understand both point of views, now I’m not political but I do know what would be best for the people. I say remodel the whole mall, and or expand it, do not make apartments. The mall still has a chance, it’s just very outdated we need a nice shopping center łike the ones in otay

I have to say i like this idea. Not everyone wants to live in compact areas. But making it a walkable area with the ideas like hillcrest or north park, but evolving on those. Allowing entertainment, necessities all within walking distance will help / be attractive to allot of people. Especially with the mall being dead.

This city has so many other issues… this is a great idea in theory, but if you just try to re develop Parkway Plaza without fixing any of the other issues El Cajon has you will still be stuck with facing those same issues, and all that money you put into redevelopment will be wasted

Parkway plaza is where teens hang out so maybe put in some stores for teens instead of a barber shop, tattoo shop, vape shop, massage place, jewelry, overpriced stuff like Boxlunch. Parkway was doing great even during COVID, it’s all the good stores leaving that killed it

Bad idea. The reason why all shops closed is because the rent was to high, all the theft, and online shopping. Look at Horton Plaza, Grossmont center it’s all the same. Businesses are suffering in Cali. They are all moving out of state.

Put affordable apartments (no HOA) along Johnson, renovate the mall to include a community center and farmers market, control the stink from in-and-out, better security and the place could be a good multipurpose home.

Leave parkway plaza alone, it was a place that brought youth from different backgrounds together, to have fun on the weekends.
