In the 1950s, my dad was a school bus driver and going to school to get a master’s degree in psychology. He needed practice to learn how to administer the tests. He would ask the parents permission, and if they said yes, he would take a child home, administer the test, give them a snack, then bring them home. That would never happen today. No one would ask in the first place and no parent would say yes.

When I was around 6 to 8 years old, together with two or three friends, we would spend hours talking with retirees in their 60s and older. We would stay with them until their sons came home from work, and then we would either play football or go fishing with them until it got dark.But that was 40 years ago. It was an experience that changed my life and the way I think. I regret that something like that no longer exists nowadays.

Exactly. Although I know some people are just trying to protect the kids, a lot of times they don't mean no harm. My uncle, for example, played a lot with me when I was younger and always acted a bit off, that's because he was autistic
