You seemed to be more excited before reading than after the fact. I don’t like reading books that have disturbing outcomes. I would have stopped reading that one. Doesn’t sound like a classic? What do you think gave his book the classic rating?

Kafka was born in 1883 and died 41 years later of tuberculosis. He made quite an impact for such a brief life. He’s got a couple of other epic works if your interested.

There’s a parallel with a man losing his job. How much self-worth and identity are tied to career, especially if one day it is gone. My father lost everything after 9/11. His pension, his retirement and all the stocks in his 401(k).
