With the legal rules, they can search you only with a reasonable cause or suspicion without a warrant. For instance, if they suspect you of stolen properties, offensive weapon, illigal drugs etc. Again, if they place you under a lawful arrest, they can search you. However, the police must tell you the specific reason or suspicion of the seach and they have no right to search your phone or any digital devices without a court warrant.
