@nataliecarterthrives: think this is the part I was missing for years. I knew how to lose weight. I’d done it many times, including the transformation you’re watching here. What I didn’t understand was that my relationship with food and myself needed attention too. For me, restriction often fed the bingeing. Then came the shame, the secret eating, the all-or-nothing thinking and the need to start again. Changing my body and changing that relationship turned out to be two different pieces of the puzzle. And I actually think there’s so much hope in knowing that. Because whatever you choose to do with your body, you can work on your relationship with food and yourself alongside it. You don’t have to wait until you reach a certain weight to begin that work. I wish I’d understood that years ago. It’s a huge part of why I do the work I do now.
