I brought our traditional gyil to the stage, using its beautiful rhythms to tell a story of our people, our traditions and the generations that came before us. I also incorporated songs from two of our very own musical giants, The Lioness of Africa and Samini Dagati, whose music carries elements of our traditional sounds and continues to put the Upper West Region on the world map. For me, this was more than just a performance. It was a celebration of where I come from - bringing together our traditional rhythms, music, storytelling and dance to show that our culture continues to live and speak through generations. As I played, danced and connected with the audiences, I carried the spirit of the Upper West with me. Our culture is our identity. Our music is our story. Our heritage is our pride.
