This may not be correct, but from what I heard it was a simulator pilot who was rusty and a new pilot that got her license like two 2 weeks ago that is 100% on the company

Problem started when FAA relaxed many requirements. Did you know that to become an airline pilot these days, you may only have to fly 5 hours solo time? (That's where you are the only person in the airplane.) Did you know that new airline pilot flying you through the sky my only have 25 hrs of complex aircraft (retractable gear, movable flaps, and changing prop)? They only have to now have 25 hrs of multi-engine? Yep. Sickening and scary. The pilot shortage over the past 10 years has caused students to be certificated without meeting the Standards? Lucrative for the Examiners but not safe for the public.
