those armys who go “b-but we hold them accountable 🥺” are often the exact same people who will immediately drag BlackPink into the conversation knowing DAMN well that bringing up another group doesn’t magically erase BTS’s own controversies. this isn’t me defending BlackPink or pretending they’re innocent angels. they should absolutely be held accountable for their own actions. but armys using BlackPink as a distraction whenever BTS gets criticised is NOT accountability. if BTS have already “apologised,” then why do some armys keep bringing up BlackPink every single time this topic comes around instead of simply discussing BTS’s actions on their own merits? an apology can be acknowledged while still recognising that the behaviour was wrong. you don’t get to scream “we hold them accountable” while simultaneously playing the whataboutism Olympics every time your faves are criticised 🤦🏼‍♀️

I’m all for accountability, but if we’re going to talk about accountability, then keep that same energy for everyone. BTS have acknowledged and apologized for things they’ve done in the past, and that context matters. You can criticize something they did without constantly recycling old mistakes as if they never took accountability. Holding someone accountable is one thing; using their past forever as a weapon while giving other idols endless excuses is another.
