I do something similar once I'm invested. After a couple of chapters I'll search up character names on the whole fic. If that character name stops appearing suddenly I can guess they're gonna die and emotionally prepare.

I do this for EVERYTHING in a way. movies, series, games, books, fics, everything. I look up videos or the wiki or get the whole thing basically spoiled to me first before I go check it out myself. if I can't find anything on it or people won't spoil it for me I won't go check out that piece of media until I find something about it that interests me. 💔

To be fair, if I am reading a fic and certain tropes come up, I will go ahead several chapters to see if they fixed it yet, because if they go on too long, I will stop. Or if it isn't fixed yet, I will wait until the issue is fixed before continuing. (Like the "listens to half the conversation outside the door, misunderstands, and runs away trope.)
