I’m so happy he’s getting his baby! I got picked by a baby too 10 years ago at the time of the 2016 Olympics so I named him Rio because that’s where it was held that year, it’s a great name if he hasn’t already got a name in mind. I didn’t get to have him for so long so I’m hoping that he gets his for as long as my Mom had hers his name was Smokey and she had him for 20 years plus.

I donated what I was able to because I know exactly what happened here. ❤️When I was 11, I lost my brother, and I went through a lot of that grief alone. Animals became one of the only places I could still find joy and peace. Not long after, I walked into a pet store looking for a lizard and instead was very loudly chosen by a baby cockatiel. 😂 She raised absolute hell to get to me, went straight to my shoulder, hissed at anyone who tried to take her away, and screamed every time they put her back in her cage. I knew almost nothing about birds at the time, but there was simply no walking away from her. That little bird became one of my best friends for as long as she lived. She gave me something I didn't even know I desperately needed during one of the hardest parts of my childhood, and she started a lifelong love of birds for me. I'm 34 now and recently brought another cockatiel into my life because I missed that joy and companionship so much. Watching this little boy be chosen brought that 11-year-old version of me right back. I know what it means when an animal chooses their person. Sometimes they seem to know before we do. I hope these two get many, many years together. I couldn't watch this and not contribute what I could. Please give that sweet little bird a scritch from someone who understands exactly what just happened here. ❤️🦜
