It’s exceptionalism. A lot of Christians genuinely believe that they are the closest thing to the coming of Christ. They think they have ‘earned’ everything that they have and everything that they are. They probably see themselves as glow in the dark sticks that God focuses on and ignores everyone else

I had a similar conversation in a comment section about how dating is mostly luck. Lots of Christians declared it was Gods Favor. When I said either way it’s out of our control it became the argument of ye with little faith lol plus why does God favor you when we are all made in his image? It’s a circular argument.

A testimony is an evangelical tactic meant to bring people into the religion. That was 1000% Keith’s intent with sharing that story lol and I genuinely don’t think he meant any harm by it but he and so many Christians just lack so much self awareness at times. I think his church would have been the best audience for that story. We didn’t need to hear it. I wasn’t swayed or moved by it at all. Someone died while he was able to successfully move out of harms way. That’s not really a moment worth celebration to me. It warrants reflection about what’s important and how life can be lost in an instant. God and religion had nothing to do with that.
