Statistically, it’s not possible to have that many people in a small space without there being crime. It’s not because the black and people just say it because it’s a predominantly black festival. It’s heavily policed though and generally considered safe but, and I don’t know about the statistics for this year, but last year there were 4 stabbings, 18 people were arrested for SA and 55 officers were assaulted, 68 weapons were confiscated including a gun. Sunday is usually family friendly and calmer than Monday which is the main adult parade.
