I started making content on Tiktok in 2020, and my videos shared a For You Page with countless clips of women hitting their limits, laughing and crying about the state of their homes, the inequity they experienced, and the impossible expectations they faced. In Sept of 2020 alone, the pressure of the moment forced nearly 900,000 women into leaving the workforce. Why? Because women disproportionately bear the burden of household management. Because with a new school year starting and schools and childcare centers still closed, they simply couldn’t do it all. Because we still live with a culture that thinks it’s funny when a man doesn’t know basic info about his own kids. Yes, things have changed in the last few years, but domestic inequity remains the norm. We have new language, but popular comedians still sell “family friendly” specials riddled with cheap negligent “dumb dad” jokes. We’ve come a long way but we’ve still got a long way to go. In the last few years, I’ve found an incredible community online and in person, made hundreds of videos, started the hashtag #weaponizedincompetence, collaborated with @fairplaylife to build curriculum for young people, led workshops, hosted a retreat, coached couples, consulted with orgs and brands, and connected with so many of you who feel this too. And now… I wrote a book. No More Mediocre: A Call to Reimagine Our Relationships and Demand More It’s a battle cry for better. And you can preorder it now. ❤️ We deserve more.
