I wait for 10K points so I can get $1 off per gallon. Go to the gas station with my teenager. Fill up my car, then we switch the pump to their car and fill it up. Sometimes we get the full 30 gallons, sometimes we only squeeze 26-28 gallons. We try to maximize the 30 gallons as much as possible.

Yes using points is technically getting something free or reduced. Where do people come up with the idea it's not? The whole point is to use sales, loyalty cards, coupons, and rewards to get things at a discount or free. If you're buying what you like/need/want and using it there's no problem. I've bought canned cat/dog food and treats, because I got it for free or under 50 cents and then donated it. Same with baby products and shelf stable food we don't like. If the coupon and sale makes something free or really cheap and it can be donated that's helping.
