The high price comes from the fact it's only available foil from 7th edition. 7th edition foils were incredibly rare compared to modern packs. There are probably additional reasons that are unknown to me.

I have legit never seen a card I was trying to order in stock on starcitygames. No reason to ever check that website unless you want nonfoil bulk.

7th foils are some of the rarest foils. I helped someone with a 7th foil birds of paradise. There were less birds of paradise in foil printed than black lotuses printed in beta. Yes that rare. Foils didn't use to be worthless.

so the very simple answer for this is 7th edition is the first time that you have the possibility for a foil for many cards. birds of paradise a foil version of that is several thousands of dollars cuz that's the first opportunity that a foil version of that card could exist. so that's what makes 7th edition so special also this was in the early days of foiling where foils were not guaranteed in any pack ever in fact foils were generally found of any rarity in about one out of every 14 packs so if you were to buy a full box of boosters which back in the day had 36 packs in it you if you were lucky might get two to three total foil cards. combine that with the fact that pre-modern has made a lot of cards that you know used to be relatively inexpensive incredibly expensive now because that's the format that people want to play and blood pet is used in multiples of those decks so a card that sees play of a four of or three of in multiple decks and the first opportunity to have a foil version of it is your explanation.

Seventh Edition foils were a barely printed set with unique art and the old bordered foil. Its the only old border coreset with black border foils. Its essentially a reserve list.
