okay I'm probably going to end up making more than one comment I'm probably just going to comment underneath my own comment but I'm halfway through the video and I absolutely agree with you when it comes to Barney versus sesame Street and I'm older than the demographic age but I have little cousins who watch it and they don't even really watch Barney the way they watch sesame Street Barney is just entertainment not so much educational and he is quite creepy

Barney was made because a mother noticed that kid's nursery rhyme vhs tapes at the time were no longer working to keep her son occupied. So she came up with Barney. Meanwhile Ms Rachel started making content because there weren't any adequate resources to teach her speech-delayed son how to speak. That says it all

I'm so glad to hear that someone else watched Sesame Street and thought the characters were their friends. I was heavily bullied as a kid and didn't have many friends due to being autistic, the shyest and the smallest in my class. I would watch Sesame Street repeatedly and when asked, I would tell the adults in my life that I was "watching my friends" and we were learning together. years later when I was in middle school, somebody found out that I called the Sesame Street characters my friends and told the other kids, resulting in me getting more bullied. so it's just nice to hear that one of my favorite creators also thought of the Sesame Street characters as their friends.

Sesame Street also wrote their characters like actual people.The Muppets are written like child who can be angry or frustrated but especially in the beginning the adults were too. Sesame Street let adults make mistakes but still be loving,Sesame Street also tried it's best to feel like a real neighborhood,any conflict that could arise were things that could happen in real neighborhoods

my only interaction with barney was on my old TV. it was black and white. so barney was SCARY as a pure black void with bright white teeth.... sesame Street was a little better in black and white.... it was my mom's TV from HER childhood, BTW. im late 30s

The first time my parents saw it was in 1994, when my older brother with downs was in the hospital (2 yo). He and another five year yo patient had to compete for the tv. Ryan wanted to watch Barney all the time, the other kid wanted to see Thomas and Friends… I’ll let you make the educated guess which one my parents preferred 😂🥰
