people also dont realize set curation takes TIME. just because i play for an hour doesnt mean i didnt spend 50+ hours finding the right songs/mixes for that 1 hour set. i feel weird charging what i do being only a year into DJ’ing, but i put TIME and effort into each set i play. i deserve to be paid for that time

Realest video I’ve seen thus far. It’s really bad here in Los Angeles, CA. There is way too many low budget dj’s and it’s ruining things for us that have years established doing this. I hate having to negotiate with clients lol

Yeah uhh I’ve been charging $1800 for 5 hours here in San Antonio Tx for the past 5 years. Only time the price changes is if I go to Houston, Dallas or El Paso because of the distance

So Cal Sound Bespoke Events Co :
Hii! ☺️We’re a newer DJ company, and when we first started, we tried charging standard market rates. However, we realized that many clients understandably wanted to see videos of our performances, reviews, and experience before feeling comfortable investing in our services. Since we were still building our portfolio, we decided to offer what we call “startup pricing” to help us get our foot in the door, gain experience, and build trust with potential clients.
Now, we’re hoping to transition toward charging standard market rates, but we want to approach it the right way. For those of you who have started a business in the entertainment industry, how did you navigate that transition? How did you build credibility and communicate your value to clients while still being a newer company?
I’d really appreciate any advice or insight! ❤️
