Thereafter if I was young and single I’d buy a house or townhome. I’d house hack and bring in one friend (or two) to pay rent for a room to offset my cost say $500 a month. Use that money to save more in VOO. Eventually turn that home into a full time rental and buy your next home! You’ll have a nice brokerage account to fall back on

The first 50k should just go into VOO (the SP500). If you’re starting out you’re young You don’t need an emergency fund since you can cash it out in case of an emergency. Start there. Then save your money for a 3-5 percent down payment on a home. Have a strong stock base to fall back on.
