@michaelsegaren520: MP Ang Wei Neng himself said he felt like a “foreigner in my own country” when visiting Changi Business Park. So if a Singaporean today says, “I feel like a foreigner in my own country because of the large foreign presence,” should that feeling also be dismissed or condemned? This is not about hating foreigners. Singapore needs foreign talent and workers, and we welcome those who contribute to our economy and society. But Singaporeans also have the right to express concerns about the scale and impact of immigration. If an MP can openly say he felt like a foreigner in Singapore, ordinary Singaporeans should have the same right to express that feeling without immediately being labelled racist or xenophobic. One standard for everyone — politicians and citizens alike.
