My parents put me as an authorized user on their credit card account and made sure to always pay it off on time so when I turned 18 my credit score was 728.

as someone who lost their mom at a young age - something I think thats of extreme importance of a non-monetary value - is to leave a handwritten journal of all the things about YOU for her. I have spent the last 19 years (and counting) of my moms death wishing I knew more about her FROM her. Her favorite colors, songs, dreams, thoughts, meals, friendships, hardships, advice.... all the things.

I wish I could do this but my abusive ex husband has impoverished me. I don’t think I will be able to recover, if I can, until my son is an adult. I do have life insurance though.

529 is also not just for traditional college. I believe it can be used for trade schools, it's can also be used for k-12 expenses and it can be used towards student loan repayment, and apprenticeships.

Please tell me you carry life insurance on yourself! You absolutely need to do that first.

I see it as the airplane mask example. your mask comes first in order for you to help anyone in this case our kids. if anything we put them as a beneficiary on our accts.

So what happens to the money going to to the 529 account? If you can't transfer and they don't go to college who has the money

My job gives us $10K automatically for life’s insurance. I have life insurance on my kids and myself. They both have 529 accounts for college. It’s fast with growth so I don’t deposit as much monthly.

Nice job!! I’m so glad the UTMA in my state transfers over when they’re 21 because I would be nervous to hand it over at 18 😅😩😁

Those talking about life insurance. I see people saying they have a policy for $500,000. You’d be surprised how easily that could be spent for your child. Million dollar life insurance policy gives them more cushion

Also, please consider pre planning your funeral and cemetery arrangements. It’s cheaper when you do it in advance. Make things easy for your daughter. Dont let her make such sensitive and expensive decisions at her time of grief. And this also avoids her having to take money out of those accounts / life insurance to use towards your arrangements.

My daughter is the only granddaughter on her dad's side. She will inherit all of their properties and savings. I have a savings account for her but I think the best thing I can do is take care of my future to not be a burden for her when I get older.

As a single parent this is my bigggggest fear. I have the largest life insurance policy I can get at work. And I signed him up for a Trump Account which is already growing. Just do something. Anything.
