@coffeewithsimon: 10 things that you can do today to be an awesome work partner.
I’ve worked with a lot of talented people throughout my career. But talent isn’t always what I remember most.
I remember the people who made collaboration feel easy. The people I trusted. The people who made the people around them better.
Over time, I’ve realized that how people experience working with you shapes your reputation and can even shape your chances of getting promoted.
It made me think about what actually makes someone great to work with, and the small behaviors that make people want to work with you again, request you by name, and rave about you when you’re not in the room.
Beyond being easy to work with, there’s a whole system to becoming more visible, earning leadership trust, and positioning yourself for promotion. I teach it inside my Career Growth Academy.

Being talented gets you noticed, but being great to work with gets remembered. Small habits can make a huge difference to how people experience working with you.

Yes - give away credit fast. It will make your colleagues feel good, and making your colleagues feel good is what ups your reputation. And a good reputation > being good at work all the time!

A basic of being kind and easy to work with goes a long way. You might not see it now but later you will see you’re doing yourself a favour!

All great advice, though I think this is oversimplified. There’s a ton of corporate politics to navigate in this day and age, and moving up sometimes means prioritizing optics over likability. While likeability is necessary, it’s rarely the track towards upwards trajectory. I would argue the word “respect” is more fitting and apply to all points you’ve made.
