@suchalovelyred: leave it to a group of young girls to hurt a grown person’s feelings 😅 Seriously, I got used to this growing up. But truthfully, it hasn’t happened to me in sooo long. Transcript: “I’m a full grown adult woman. I’m confident in my Deaf identity. Signing in public? Sure! Not a problem. I’m not embarrassed. But… I do get my feelings hurt. Today I was ordering coffee and in front of me was a group of young girls. After they ordered, I saw a phone that was left so I signed to them, one of your phones is here. They retrieved it. Then I just… by the way, Deaf intuition is a thing. We know. I glanced over and trubiz the whole table was looking at me and I locked eyes with the 5 of them. One of the girls was mocking me with her hands. I thought… right after I helped you…. You make fun of my signing. Cool. But yeah I felt hurt. I am still not embarrassed. I will never be embarrassed. But I am embarrassed by how they used their hands. Do better.”
Don't let those ignorant fools hurt your feelings!! they're immature and weak

You are so much better than me. Whenever im with my parents and they get mocked I act like they are actually signing real words and start conversation

I hate that people are so weird/rude about sign language. I’m not deaf but my partner and I frequently sign in public due to my auditory processing issues and overstimulation, it’s just genuinely crazy to me that something that should be so normal (and seems so normal to me) can be so stigmatized by others

I saw something similar once when I was a barista but it was a teenager & a group of other teens. But when I saw them mocking the deaf girl I just asked them “what do you think you’re doing?” They stopped immediately

They should be embarrassed. I sorry they hurt you. You have double intuition, you know, we redheads have our own special intuition, too. 👩🏻🦰😉😘

How rude! Clearly says more about their character then yours, your signing is very clear and easy to follow even as a student. I’m sorry that happened to you 🧡🧡

The road to h*ll is paved with good intentions. You seem confident & strong and you are the better person. I get bummed out when I hear stories like this but there are more good people in the world than bad

I’m 27, started losing my hearing at 14. I consider myself HOH, been learning sign on my own since 14. But I’ve never had deaf or HOH friends, never been involved in the Deaf community. The insecurity from it all is INSANE.

I am sorry you went through such a hurtful experience. How petty and immature they must be by acting this way after your kindness. Life will teach them a lesson on humility. It tends to.
