I want to help as many people as possible to say “Tá Gaeilge agam” What does it actually mean to have Irish? To me, it doesn’t mean being fluent, knowing every seanfhocal, the modh coinníollach or let’s not even talk Tuiseal Ginideach… It means saying slán to a friend, dia dhuit to your dentist, or go raibh maith agat to someone in a shop. It means making Irish part of your life, in whatever way you can. The Irish language doesn’t belong to the perfect speakers. It belongs to all of us. Many of us left school carrying a fear of speaking Irish. We learned to worry about getting things wrong instead of enjoying the privilege of having our own language. 2026 is the year we took back our language, we became even more proud to speak as Gaeilge and honoured the generations of language activists who fought to keep it alive. I’m just one teacher trying to make as many people as possible develop the same love I have for Gaeilge. My promise to you is to keep showing up, keep improving the app and give this project everything I have. But I’d love your help along the way. Your feedback, ideas and suggestions genuinely matter. I want to build something that serves the people learning Irish. An bhfuil Gaeilge agat? Tá Gaeilge agam. Go raibh míle maith agaibh as bheith anseo. P.S. I’m currently hitchhiking 2100kms across China, filming an Irish-language show. I want to bring Gaeilge places it’s never been. More on that soon. 🫶 Éamon
