im a software engineer. the issues with ai are issues with capitalism. I'm worried we are misdirecting our anger at ai instead of the structural issues that make it the way it is. it has changed several industries and impossible to uninvent. I use open source models because they are cheaper than american bubble models. part of the bubble is just dumb hype where it has to be inoculated in every place imaginable when its not needed. I think you're wasting time if you are identifying as either 100 pro or anti when capitalism is right there. ai is part of the economic base. we are approaching a stage where more people can self host.

i saw a tiktok of this girl she said she used chat so much in high school, she’s now in college and she’s realizing she learned nothing and knows practically nothing. comments said “just keep using chat”. we are literally so screwed.
