@cjustastick: After 173 students and teachers from SMPN 1 Makale and SMPN 2 Makale reportedly fell sick after eating meals provided by SPPG Makale Batupapan 1. The cases prompted a hearing at the Tana Toraja DPRD, where officials questioned the food provider over what went wrong and how the meals were cleared for distribution. During the hearing, Louice Cristiana Mangontan, head of the Magnolia Champaca Virginiana Foundation and a partner of the SPPG, defended the food provider’s procedures but sparked backlash after saying, “If they knew it already smelled bad, why did they still eat it?” She later apologized and said the incident was outside their control, while authorities called for food samples and other evidence to be tested and for the affected students’ medical costs to be covered.
