This was moments before Ethan was sh0t and k1illed, btw. Officer Yao had seen and interacted with him before and they were friendly, but Ethan was severely schizophrenic and charged the officer with intent. Officer Yao actually hesitated for as long as he reasonably could and didn't fire until Ethan was in lunging reach.
