@daneshamonek: One of the most expensive lessons success taught me was that access without boundaries will eventually turn into entitlement. The more visible I became, the more I realized I couldn’t continue being equally available to everybody. Not because I became better than people. Because my responsibilities became bigger. My marriage needs me. My children need me. My business needs me. My students and clients who actually PAY for my expertise need me. My friendships need me. And somewhere in there, I still need me. 😂 I used to feel guilty about not answering every message, helping everybody who asked, or being as accessible as I once was. I don’t anymore. Because every YES is taking time from somewhere else. So when I say no, don’t respond, protect my privacy, charge for my expertise, or reserve certain parts of myself for the people closest to me… That’s not arrogance. That’s stewardship. I’m responsible for deciding where my time, wisdom, energy, and intimacy go. And everybody wanting a piece of me doesn’t create an obligation for me to give it. Some of y’all aren’t struggling with boundaries because you don’t know how to set them. You’re struggling because you’re still afraid of what people will call you once you do. Let them talk.
