but then the hardware gets outdated. Hardware already exists that inference orders of magnitude faster than an h100 for lower cost. So you should make sure you actually want an h100 and not something else

He's absolutely right. If (and only if) you are operating a business where you would be making use of GPUs 24/7, 365 days a year, it makes sense to buy instead of rent. It would be more of a long term investment. There will definitely be other costs that you incur there because the GPU has to be attached to some hardware, but yeah if you are running a business that uses GPUS at that scale you're better off buying. More bang for your buck. Renting works great for people who use it every now and then.

No it doesn't make more sense lol. These young founders can't even Google anymore. Brother, you need 2N+1 power and redundancy, diverse fiber connections and back up equipment. You need fire proof and food resistant rooms. You can't just throw this into an outlet on your desk for the whole company to reliably use the GPU
