K-ON! is a Japanese manga and anime series created by Kakifly. It follows five high school girls who join their school's Light Music Club. They form a band called Ho-kago Tea Time and spend their school years practicing music, performing at school events, and making memories together. The five main members are Yui Hirasawa, Mio Akiyama, Ritsu Tainaka, Tsumugi Kotobuki, and Azusa Nakano. 1. Mio Akiyama Name: Mio Akiyama Japanese: 秋山澪 Birthday: January 15, 1992 Blood Type: A Height: 160 cm School Year: Second-year student at the beginning Instrument: Fender Jazz Bass Mio Akiyama is a founding member of the Light Music Club. She plays bass and is also one of the band's main vocalists. Her instrument is a Fender Jazz Bass, and she is an experienced bassist. Mio writes lyrics for many of the band's songs. Her lyrics are often emotional and serious. She is a close friend of Ritsu Tainaka, who often teases her. Mio is also afraid of ghosts and horror stories. Tsumugi Kotobuki Name: Tsumugi Kotobuki Japanese: 琴吹紬 Birthday: July 2, 1991 Blood Type: O Height: 157 cm School Year: Second-year student at the beginning Instrument: Keyboard Tsumugi Kotobuki, usually called “Mugi,” is the keyboard player and a founding member of the Light Music Club. She comes from a wealthy family and has a refined upbringing. She is also an accomplished pianist. Mugi often brings tea, cakes, and snacks to the clubroom, making tea time an important part of club life. Although she is wealthy, she is interested in ordinary experiences such as visiting inexpensive restaurants and shopping at normal stores. She uses her keyboard to add harmony and melody to the band's music. Her musical skills complement the other members. 5. Azusa Nakano Name: Azusa Nakano Japanese: 中野梓 Birthday: November 11, 1992 Blood Type: AB Height: 150 cm School Year: First-year student when she joins Instrument: Fender Mustang Azusa Nakano is the youngest of the five members. She joins the Light Music Club as a first-year student after the other four members have formed Ho-kago Tea Time. Azusa already has guitar experience when she joins. She plays a Fender Mustang and takes practice seriously. She is initially surprised that the older members spend so much time drinking tea, eating snacks, and talking instead of practicing. Over time, Azusa becomes comfortable with the club's relaxed atmosphere.
