Training stops on a particular day. Anything after it is a blank, and the gap is usually months. The problem is it doesn't feel like a blank. No hesitation, no warning. Fine for drafting an email. Not fine for anything with a figure or a rule in it. While writing this script I asked Claude what its cutoff was. End of May 2026, a few months behind the day I recorded this. Screenshot is in the video. It then proved the point itself, referring to something from June 2025 as "last June", because in its head that's recent. Two habits that fix most of this: โข Ask the model what its cutoff date is. ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini will all tell you. โข For anything time sensitive, turn on web search or paste in the current source and tell it to work from that. It isn't lying to you. It just doesn't know what it doesn't know. Have you ever caught an AI tool giving you an out of date answer? #KnowledgeCutoff #AILiteracy #AIforBusiness #ChatGPT #Claude
