Humans are already capable of racism and discrimination against their fellow humans. So, if entirely new races like elves, dragons, and other non-human beings existed, they would likely face even worse treatment. They could be enslaved, exploited, or sold simply because they are different. Maquia portrays this harsh reality by showing just how greedy, cruel, and prejudiced humans can be when faced with something they see as different or inferior.

If dragons existed, they'd be poached for expensive goods like birkin bags and whatnot, used as trophies and luxury ornaments, abused and enslaved by others, and be kept dead or alive as status symbols by the wealthy.
