The fact that Eren didn’t achieve anything significant is the WHOLE point bro 😭😭😭

The AoT fans are gonna disagree with you because they think Isayama’s botched ending was intentional. The whole rumbling arc is a massive stain on an otherwise pretty good story. Unfortunately that stain is so massive that it retroactively makes the whole series significantly worse. Isayama failed at adequately criticizing war & fascism & violence because he tried to make Eren an irredeemable monster & a sympathetic victim at the same time and by attempting both he achieved neither. Isayama himself admitted to handling the ending poorly.

That’s the point- eren was a immature child granted the most power in the world and basically had one big tantrum, and yet that last montage of the city demonstrates how nothing matters and how it’s just a recurring loop. That scene of him and armin where he is crying is basically us seeing how Eren isn’t a grown logical person- just a stupid kid.

1. One of AOT’s main themes is that the cycle of violence never stops, which is why Eren accomplished “nothing” in the big picture (Wars continue, paradis gets nuked in the future) 2. Agree with the Ymir point 3. Eren went ahead with the rumbling plan because he WANTED to, he felt disappointed by all the prejudice and hatred outside the walls 4. The rumbling was easy to stop because Eren’s ultimate goal was for his friends to defeat him, so he held back the entire time (he could’ve just stripped everyone of their titans with the founder’s power) 5. Agree with plot armor point

Even though he had the ultimate power he wanted to fulfil his desire of freedom to flatten the outside world more than anything else thats why he kept moving forward to the future he saw

I think the show very clearly explains that Eren didn't accomplish anything for a reason, that reason being that he is a fucking dumbass. He said himself that he was so fucking dumb that he couldn't come up with anything smarter than trying to kill everyone in the world, and that is fully in line with his character. Eren was always dumb, from the first scene we met him to his last and the fact that people think he had the mental capacity to actually do something of this magnitude is silly in my opinion.

You’re not understanding why Eren desired the Rumbling. It was not mainly because he thought it would save Paradis or save his friends. He believed the Rumbling was the only way he could achieve his version of freedom. He was trapped by himself and desires.

ending defenders will use mental and logical gymnastics to defend this, but you are absolutely right on your points. Aot is still my favorite show of all time, but I agree they misplayed the ending

Eren WANTED the Rumbling. That’s literally why he didn’t go with any other option. He can not just see the future lmfao he only saw fragments of the future until he started the Rumbling upon gaining the power of the Founder in the paths with Zeke where he saw the rest. Eren was SELFISH. He wanted the Rumbling mainly to achieve what he believed was freedom. Which consisted of the empty landscapes he envisioned from Armin’s book. He also achieved freedom in the end btw but that’s a different conversation. You’re acting like Eren thought the Rumbling was a good idea when he himself states this was the only path because it was him who got his hands on too much power.

Bru u missed the point of the show. He did it to ensure his friends would live long good lives. Human nature is to constantly be at war with each other. And no matter what the island was already declared as devils so their time on Paradis was limited. Also Eren kind of just let them do it so they would be seen as heroes who stopped Eren

It’s always been true that the full rumbling would have been a better ending but people are too scared to have a story where the protagonist rightfully commits a genocide
