1. “A woman’s testimony is half of a man’s” only refers to when it comes to financial loans rather than a universal loan of all islamic testimonies. in Surah Baqarah 2:282 it is called upon 2 male witnesses when making a financial contract or loan and one male and two women if two men aren’t available, so that if one woman forgets the other one can remind her (this is basically showing the responsibility and obligation that a man HAS TO remember financial disputes) this all has to do with memory in this specific context (i’m not saying that women aren’t capable of remembering these things, it’s just an obligation upon men to remember such situations) 2. “No nation will succeed that chose a woman as their leader” this regards the appointed queen in ancient persia. This hadith is not meant to shame women its merely the traditional commendation that often point to duties, social norms heavy physical or public burdens of unilateral leadership in historical governance. Scholars argue that this hadith was a specific description of the collapsing persian empire rather than the universal law for all nations. 3. “A woman cannot travel without a mahram” According to the hanafi madhab a woman shouldn’t travel without a mahram for more than 3 days. This all has to do with safety AT THE TIME OF THE PROPHET with extreme dangers in the desert. Modern times with airplanes trains, large public groups, these permit a woman to travel alone if her paths are secure and safe. 4. “A man can divorce his wife by saying talaq 3 times but a woman cannot do the same” A man cannot say talaq 3 times at once, this is punishable. The husband (if initiated the divorce by his talaq) must follow proper procedure. A woman can divorce her husband by a judicial annulment, write a condition into her marriage contract that gives her the legal right to divorce her husband if certain rules are broken or a mutual agreement (there might be more). 5. “The majority of hell will be women” Comes from when the Prophet Muhammad SAW was shown hell and saw that the majority is women (this could mean that it was ———-
