@theportfoliocareercoach: Nobody warned me about this decade. Consider yourself warned. Millennial women between 31 and 41. If you work in corporate, start these 10 habits before it is too late. 1️⃣ Find out what your full benefits package is worth. Health insurance, pension, learning budget, equity. Base salary is usually the least flexible part of any offer. Everything else often has more room. 2️⃣ Block one hour per week with no agenda. Just one question: is this still where I want to be going? The answer will tell you more than any performance review. 3️⃣ Get a basic will in place. If you have savings, a property, or a partner, you need one. At this income level it is no longer optional. 4️⃣ Have one honest salary conversation with a peer at your level. Finding out you are underpaid from a colleague is faster and more accurate than any salary survey. 5️⃣ Check the IP clause in your employment contract before building anything outside your job. Some companies own what you create on their time. Know what you signed. 6️⃣ Find out your company's restructuring history. Companies that have done it once will do it again. Knowing the pattern puts you ahead of it. 7️⃣ Write a one-page bio about yourself in the third person. Not your CV. A narrative of who you are and what you are known for. You will need it sooner than you think. 8️⃣ Do your own annual review before your manager does theirs. Rate your year yourself first. It changes how you walk into that conversation. 9️⃣ Get comfortable being on camera. Panels, podcasts, LinkedIn video. Visibility at this stage is not optional. If people cannot find you online, they cannot choose you. 🔟 Open a separate account specifically for a career transition. Three months of income, separate from your emergency fund.
