@gradepilot: I was asked about this by several postgraduate students recently, and thought of picking these 5 research paradigms because they are among the ones students most often encounter when designing a study. A research paradigm shapes how you see reality, what you consider valid knowledge and how you decide to investigate a problem. That is why choosing a paradigm should come before simply deciding whether your study is quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods. A useful question to ask when choosing one is: “What do I believe about the nature of reality, and what kind of knowledge am I trying to produce?” #researchparadigm #PostGraduateResearch #ResearchMethodology
